Dong-A ST Partners with Pusan National University Hospital, MEZOO, and People & Technology to Establish Smart Wards Using HiCardi M350
Dong-A ST to Collaborate with Pusan National University Hospital and MEZOO on the Joint Development of an AI- and Wearable-Based Maritime Healthcare Support System
Dong-A ST announced on the 14th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Pusan National University Hospital (PNUH) to establish smart hospital wards and jointly develop an artificial intelligence (AI)- and wearable-based maritime healthcare support system.
The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives, including Jae-hoon Jung, President of Dong-A ST; Hae-young Kim, President of Pusan National University Hospital; Sang-soo Kim, Vice President for Medical Affairs at PNUH; Jung-hwan Park, President of MEZOO; and Sung-pyo Hong, President of People & Technology.
The agreement aims to enhance in-hospital patient monitoring systems through wearable medical devices and digital healthcare technologies while developing a healthcare support system capable of providing medical services in maritime environments where access to healthcare is limited.
The collaboration will focus on two key initiatives: the implementation of the HiCardi M350 wearable ECG monitoring device to establish smart hospital wards, and the joint development and technological advancement of an AI- and wearable-based maritime healthcare support system.
As part of the first initiative, Dong-A ST will work with Pusan National University Hospital, MEZOO, and People & Technology to establish smart hospital wards utilizing the HiCardi M350.
The project aims to enhance patient safety and improve healthcare professionals' operational efficiency by implementing a system that enables real-time monitoring of patients' vital signs and early detection of abnormal physiological conditions.
Under the agreement, Dong-A ST will support project implementation and establish a collaborative framework among the participating organizations.
Pusan National University Hospital will provide the clinical environment and operational infrastructure while overseeing system implementation and evaluating operational outcomes.
MEZOO will provide patient monitoring solutions and be responsible for system implementation and technical support.
People & Technology will support the deployment, installation, and operation of medical devices and related systems.
In addition, Dong-A ST, Pusan National University Hospital, and MEZOO will jointly develop a maritime healthcare support system powered by on-device AI and wearable medical devices.
The maritime healthcare support system is designed to monitor the health conditions of crew members aboard ocean-going vessels and other maritime environments with limited access to medical services.
When abnormal health conditions are detected, the system will facilitate communication with healthcare professionals to support timely and appropriate medical responses.
The three organizations plan to collaborate on several key areas of technological development, including:
- Development of a maritime healthcare support package incorporating on-device AI and wearable medical devices.
- Advancement of vital sign monitoring, abnormality detection, and healthcare professional connectivity technologies to enable timely medical intervention.
Development of automated electronic medical documentation, real-time multilingual translation, and clinical decision support technologies to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of healthcare services.
Development of technologies optimized for low-bandwidth and intermittent or unavailable network connectivity to ensure reliable operation in challenging maritime communication environments.
